Gyudon
- 1-2 onions
- 1lb thinly sliced beef (frozen cheesesteak)
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 cup stock (beef or dashi)
- eggs
- 2-4 cups cooked rice (short grain)
- scallions
- sesame seeds
- Prepare rice
- Heat oil in pan. Thinly slice onions and cook the onions for 10 minutes.
- Add the beef and sugar to the pan and cook until beef is browned.
- Add mirin, soy sauce, stock. Bring to a simmer, then cook for 10-15 mins to reduce stock.
- Cook eggs sunside up in a separate pan - keep the yolks runny.
- Add rice to a bowl, top with beef and egg. Garnish with scallion and sesame seeds.
