Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Marinade

  • 2 pounds chicken tenderloins
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1.5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 3 tablespoons buttermilk

Combine chicken with the marinade ingredients in a zip lock bag and marinate for up to 24 hours (at least 4 hours).

Combine dry ingredients for the breading. Slowly add buttermilk to them to form a clumpy batter.

Place breaded chicken on a baking sheet and fry in oil at 350 degrees. Chicken should cook for around 2 minutes per side.
